Eugene Swing is a project of Drew Laiche and Catherina Erfurth. We teach Swing and Lindy Hop lessons in and around Eugene. We have both been dancing for years and have both studied under some of the greatest Lindy Hop dancers in the word.

We truly are social dancers and can regularly be found dancing at local events such as the weekly ELLA dance (Wednesdays), the weekly UofO Swing Dance Club dance (Thursdays), and the monthly Eagles dance (first Sundays) among other events where you can dance in Eugene. Intemediate Swing Series
You might know the basic steps of Swing Dance but you want more! Take our series and we’ll take you beyond the basics. In this series, we will teach fancy turns, dips, and flare for dancers wanting to break out of the monotony of the beginner lesson. We guarantee you will learn moves you’ll want to show off on the dance floor. This series will be perfect for the dancer that has had a few intro lessons and can do the basic East Coast footwork.

The series lessons will follow our FREE Friday Swing Practice. You can come early for a free practice before the lesson and get that extra help that can make a real difference.

Days: Fridays, September 3rd – 24th
Time: 8:30-9:30pm (FREE Friday Swing Practice 7:30-8:30pm)

Last Sunday Charleston Sampler Workshop
Eugene Swing will hold a Charleston workshop on Sunday, August 29th. From Noon-2pm we will impart basic fun tricks in Charleston. We will start dancers off with some exercises to teach the fundamentals of the Charleston rhythm and cover transitions, common moves, and more. Expect solo, side-by-side, and tandem Charleston.

-Series lessons with Eugene Swing and ELLA!
If you want to improve your dancing; if you want to become more musical on the dance floor, then taking series lessons that build on previous weeks is the best way. Fortunately for you, both Eugene Swing and ELLA are offering series lessons in September. If you’re interested in building on your East Coast Swing steps or if you want to tryout Partner Charleston, there’s something for you.

-Thursday Blues Jam @ Mac’s at the Vets
Every Thursday night from 7-10pm, Mac’s hosts a Blues Jam. Live music and dance! & it’s FREE. If you ever complained that their aren’t any places to dance locally, you have no more excuses! MORE INFO HERE.

-Medford Jazz Festival 2010
Mark your calendars for the 2010 Medford Jazz Festival (October 8th – 10th) and join Drew & Catherina for a variety of great workshops for everyone from the beginner to the advanced dancer. Tricky footwork and fun aerials are on the menu.

After getting personal attention and advice in our workshops you will be able to go straight out to the dance floor and dance to a variety of great Jazz bands.
